Album cover for the Holocene LP, Exterior’s second album released by Hobbes.

The album is emergent from the geological epoch of the same name. It is very textural, multi-layered work, naturalistic yet technologically ordered, dissonant but ethereal.
—
Exterior and I wanted to use rock formations in the artwork so I decided to make photograms with the frottage method. Frottage is a method of rubbing the photographic paper directly on the surface that you want to capture, in absolute darkness and then expose it to light at an angle in order to create an embossing effect.
—
I decided to do this in the Isle of Mull, one of the most interesting geologically places in UK and more specifically in Scoor cave that has prehistoric carvings. It seemed fitting to show the effect of humans on ancient geological phenomena.
